Week of October 21st
During lab this week we started by doing our semester reflection so far about the course. We then discussed as group of an estimation of timelines where we saw some events occur; (when humans appeared, dinosaurs ruled the earth, first land plants, first land animals, and when the moon was created). We market our estimations on a timeline that went along out classroom. The order I put my timeline was; 1. Moon was created, 2. First land plant, 3. Dinosaurs ruled the earth, 4. First land animals, 5. Humans appeared. We then looked at the assessment we took last week during lab to connect to the timeline we just did. We then talked about the history of Coralville, which used to be coral. The movement of the plates causes earth to move around. This was caused from the mantle and convection. Then as a table group, we were assigned to find events that happened on earth from now to 500 million years ago. This was very interesting to see how much happened during this time period. We then shared as a class of what we found during each of the time periods we were assigned. I learned that after the cambrian explosion (530 MYA), a lot of life showed up on earth including dinosaurs and so on.
